All architectural sites are some of featured buildings in Istanbul: the Maiden Tower, Galata Tower, Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet Mosque, Suleymaniye Mosque. The history of oldest building, Hagia Sophia, dated back to 6th century.
These structures also serve as sites of embodied experience for thousands as tourists or otherwise, which signifies them as symbols of a prestigious historical era.

Illumination was used and advanced during the Ottoman Empire, which own these architectural brilliances surrounding its boundaries and played a key role in their protecting their sovereignty. The historical value of the era is consciously preserved and visually enhanced in the artistic works.
