Ebru (Papermarbling) Workshop – Art on the Water

Don’t miss the Ebru (Papermarbling) Art, great experience of feeling the beauty of drawing florals on the water.

This 75 mminutes workshop begins with fundamental information on Traditional Turkish Ebru Art, including materials and techniques. You will start by experiencing how to sprinkle the paint for the background on the solution and then drop the paint using biz (needle). After that, you will learn Battal (Stoned Marbling  – Abstract), how to shape the drops into Hatip Ebru (various floral patterns), and Tulip Flower.

During the papermarbling workshop, you will complete at least 3 artworks. You may decorate your place or give them to your loved ones as presents!

To ensure that each participant has the opportunity to get the most out of the workshop, the number of participants is limited to 5. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment. The workshop will be provided by one of the artists depending on their avaliabilty.

Floral Tote Bag Painting Workshop – Bloom Your Bag

🎨 Tote Bag Painting Workshop 🎨

You will begin by choosing a flower design from the artist’s specially prepared collection In this tote bag painting workshop.

Next, you’ll sketch the outline of your chosen design onto your tote bag.

The artist, Busra, will then guide you through different painting techniques using brushes, fabric markers, or stencils.

With these methods, you’ll bring your design to life by painting it directly onto your tote bag.

Finally, we’ll complete the process with drying and fixing. The first fixing will be done during the workshop, and at home you can make the colors even more durable by ironing (without steam) over a cloth placed on top of your design.

The Course

This course is designed for those who wish to explore the art of miniature painting and learn the fundamentals of the classical miniature tradition through hands-on practice. The programme is based on designs prepared by the instructor, allowing participants to focus on understanding techniques, colour application, and the visual language of miniature art.

Course Content

  • Introduction to the art of miniature painting and its historical background
  • Composition and figure concepts in miniature art
  • Animal figures: drawing and painting applications
  • Scenes from the Mesnevi: narrative composition, scene arrangement, and painting techniques
  • Colour application and the classical miniature style

Course Process

Throughout the course, participants work on animal and Mesnevi-themed designs prepared by the instructor. The process begins with transferring the drawing onto the paper, followed by step-by-step painting and detailing techniques. By the end of the course, participants will have completed two miniature paintings.

All materials required for the course are provided.

About the Artist

Dr Sema Yurtseven is an artist specialising in the traditional Turkish arts, with a particular focus on illumination (tezhib) and miniature painting. She actively produces works in these classical art forms and adopts a meticulous, practice-based approach grounded in traditional techniques. Through her teaching, she aims to help participants understand the artistic process, develop technical confidence, and cultivate their own artistic expression.

Private Floral Papermarbling (Ebru) Lessons

Learn the art of painting flowers on water and carry a centuries-old tradition into your own hands.

You will be able to bring artworks after ecer course where you can use for decoration, hang on walls, make a cover for your noteeboks

Private Floral Papermarbling Ebru course is tailored to the participant’s level and interests, with step-by-step guidance on colour preparation, brush control, and flower construction on water. All materials are provided, and participants create their own original marbled works in a calm, studio-based setting.

It begins with fundamental techniques and floral patterns. Then floral papermarbling course includes the flowers of carnation, tulip, hycainth, bouquets, poppy, viola and daisy.

This course is taught using classical Ebru techniques. Participants will learn the history of Ebru and practice the same methods that have been followed for centuries. The course focuses especially on floral Ebru, including mastery of flower forms, control of the marbling solution, and the correct use of traditional tools. By the end of the a few course, participants will have the knowledge and skills to continue practising independently at home.

After each course, you will take home your own original Ebru artworks, which you can use for decoration, hang on your walls, or turn into covers for notebooks and other personal projects.

You do not need to bring any materials. The time and dates are scheduled with the participants. You can use your hours within 2 months.
